Professional Teeth Whitening

Whitening enhances the shine and youthfulness of a smile.

Many factors, including the food and drinks you may love such as red wine and coffee - contribute to staining of teeth.

In Australia, only a dentist is certified to access Hydrogen Peroxide above 6%. Below this amount, the 'non dentist whitening' is generally ineffective, requiring multiple time-wasting appointments.

Put simply, there are three options for whitening:

  • In- Chair, Professional Whitening

Your Richmond Dentist will apply whitening gel to your teeth that only a dentist has access to, while you watch a movie or listen to music. Teeth are visibly whiter in under one hour!

  • Take Home, Custom Fitting Whitening Kit

If you prefer to whiten at home, your dentist will have you fitted for whitening mouth-trays, by taking upper and lower impressions of your teeth. Your Kit will include Whitening Gel to get your teeth shining white.

This allows you to keep your custom fitting mouth-trays for life, and simply top up with more gel whenever you need it.

  • Express Take Home Whitening Kit

This Whitening Kit provides you with self-mouldable whitening trays, which is a very effective way to whiten for those on the go. Simply pop in and grab one over the counter!

Does Whitening affect my teeth?

Dental Whitening has been carefully monitored and approved by the ADA over several decades. It does not cause damage to the enamel in any way, but may cause a temporary sensitivity of the teeth due to the natural reaction of the pulp.

Your dentist may recommend use of a sensitive gels or toothpastes, for short period of time after whitening.

Porcelain Veneers

The Smile Make-Over.

A perfect smile is now possible in just 2 appointments, thanks to the technology of Porcelain Veneers.

Porcelain Veneers are a wafer-thin porcelain shell, which are hand made to fit, and perfectly bonded onto the face of a tooth. They are long-lasting, durable and bond very strongly to the tooth.

Modern Dental Porcelain has the physical and optical properties of a natural tooth, and is designed to mimic nature. We take pride in ensuring that your smile looks natural and perfectly suited to your face.

It corrects poorly shaped, stained, crooked, or worn smiles into healthy, vibrant and beautiful smiles.

Your Dentist will begin by taking measurements, and digitally designing your smile.

We team up with some of Melbourne's best Ceramists to hand craft your veneers, into the smile you always dreamed of.

Composite Resin Veneers

Composite Resin Veneers or 'Resin Bonding' are white coatings, which when artistically hand layered onto the surfaces of the teeth, can greatly enhance the appearance of your smile.

Composite Resin is the material used for white fillings, and comes in a range of shades and translucencies.

It is best suited for minor cosmetic changes to chipped, discoloured or stained teeth, as well as to close the spaces between teeth, and can be complete in one visit.

Crowns: Treatment to strengthen fragile teeth

A porcelain crown, or cap, is permanently bonded over a tooth, to improve its strength and durability. This treatment is usually complete over 2 appointments.

It is often the best treatment for those troublesome teeth which have been filled multiple times, broken down teeth, or teeth which have previously had root canal treatment. The porcelain used it highly cosmetic, appearing natural and lifelike, thanks to the physical and optical properties of the porcelain our Ceramists use.

It prevents teeth from further breakdown in the future, and with good hygiene and maintenance, last a very long time – for decades.

Bridges: Treatment for missing teeth

A bridge is a treatment for missing teeth. It is where one, two or three teeth are fixed in place permanently, using the adjacent teeth for support. The teeth being replaced are hand-made to fit, following preparation of the adjacent teeth, and measurements of your bite are taken.

How does Oral Appliance therapy work?

It works by holding the lower jaw forward while you sleep, thereby widening the airways at the back of the mouth and throat while you sleep, preventing collapse of the tissues and ensuring air flow through the nose and mouth to the lungs is smooth and unrestricted.

At your consultation at The Richmond Dentist, your dentist may refer you for a home sleep study and for assessment by a sleep physician, to assess the quality of your breathing during sleep.

The oral appliances are made from thin yet high strength materials which go over the tops of the teeth, and are worn during sleep.

Many users of oral snoring appliances have shared their stories of improved energy levels, reduced frustration among bed partners, and overall improved quality of life.
